Late night with the production team

Posted: 27th September 2010 by Travis Thomsen in Real Friends Help You Move Bodies

Benjamin Blackwell, Scott Kirfman, Christian Martinez and myself had a very late night at the production table this evening. Two and a half hours of plotting, scheming and technical issues we have made a lot of progress. Tonight we worked finalizing our plan for fund raising. When everything is set links will be posted.

Meanwhile, Christina has been hard at work on putting out casting call and looking for resumes of good local actors. Ben has been working on putting the final polish on the script and I have been busy masterminding it all.

And as always Scott bring the voice of reason and an actors point of view. I’m tired and it’s been a long productive night.

After many months of work stress, delays, distractions and creative impotence I was finally able to put fingers to keys and complete a story. Yesterday I wrote and wrote and wrote and didn’t stop until I was done. Thirty plus pages in one day. I feel like I accomplished something. It feels pretty damn good! I sent out the rough to my partners in the this venture Ben Blackwell and Scott Kirfmen. Ben has been making edits here and there. He has really contributed a lot to flushing out the story. I’m looking forward to what he does with this version.

Lately I’ve been taking it easy and recuperating. December and January has taken a lot out of me. So I’ve been taking it easy and blowing off some steam. I have a lot of ideas swirling around in my head and I need to put myself in the right frame of mind to get things done.

Priorities for this year:
- Finish script for Real Friends Help you Move Bodies by March.
- Finish 1-800-Tech-Support by June.
- Develop a web based RPG. (Completely not related to film making)
- Get stygia.net online. (Again not related to anything film)
- Blog more.
- Start filming Real Friends Help you Move Bodies in August and be completed by the end of the year.
- Start a cult and ascend to godhood. j/k
- Not get distracted from my goals.

I think that sums everything up. The question is how to keep myself motivated and not distracted.

A few site changes

Posted: 26th January 2010 by Travis Thomsen in DDP

As you can see things look a little different. For now I’m using the blog as the main site till I can do somethings with it. Also it’s better for the stats.

There is a lot of shit going on this year. The big one is the Real Friends Help you Movie Bodies feature. Right now we are still in the planning phase pre-production. So there will be more details later.

Moving Forward

Posted: 5th November 2009 by Travis Thomsen in DDP, New Projects

I’ve been thinking a lot about my future projects. This winter I’m planning on working on my first feature film. The plan was to start on Rewired, but this has changed. The script is about 60% complete and I’m planning to continue to develop the script. The reason why I’m changing of gears in the middle of development of my next project is that I’ve been bribed.

Some friends of mine are willing to put funding in to a feature length version of Real Friends Help you Move Bodies. So how can I say no? Well I can’t. A few weeks ago I talked to Scott Kirfman and Christian Martinez and they will be taking up their roles as Blake and James. I still need to get a hold Jason Lee Boyson to see if he would like to take on the role of Chris once again.

Last night I spent several hours working on the treatment for the new story. I’m about 90% done with it and should be starting on the script very soon. So far the plan is to begin filming in January or February.

Yet another site redesign

I think I’m going to take another crack at redesigning the site. I like the JSON and such but it sucks when trying to get stats.

Why filmmakers should self distribute

Posted: 19th September 2009 by Travis Thomsen in DDP

Some really cool video on how to get your stuff out there. It reinforces why I feel that submitting your film to a festival is a big waste of time. Apparently I’m no the only one who has gone out and bought a clue. I know this view on festivals isn’t a very popular one but it’s true.
