With a name like Dark Design Pictures shouldn't you be doing "Dark" films? Yes that was the plan and still is. My first short was Voice in the Dark a short I wrote and directed and it sucked! However it didn't suck enough to discourage me from filmmaking. It wasn't bad for my first short film. :D Since then I have canceled the Voices in the Dark, so I can refine the world and the characters in it. Rene will return but she will be different and so will the world she lives in. So what is Dark Design Pictures and what do you do? Well we make films with a darker bent and some that aren’t so dark. Thursday, September 04, 2008 Take... what are we on now 4? Okay now that I am done with my pity party I've managed to rework the schedule. Shooting officially begins Sept 8th.... I hope. A location has been nailed down for the part scene on the 13th and everyone has been notified about the schedule changes. Hopefully that means they will read it and show up. LOL Okay I'm going to go die and now and get some sleep.
Thursday, September 04, 2008 Sometimes I am amazed by my own incompetence... Yesterday was a complete and total disaster. Do to an issue at work which I had fucking caused; I had to cancel the shoot. I really can't go into detail about it, but it was colossal fuck up. I'm very very aggravated and disappointed. This is the 3rd time I've had to put off filming for 1-800-Tech-Support because of something (vacation, holidays, schedules, disasters, you name it). It hard enough trying to nail down schedules, wrangle everyone to a single location and then have to cancel last minute. Luckily I had the good sense to call everyone a head of time to let them know that there was a delay and a possible cancellation. Ugh what a day. I didn't leave work till 9:30PM. Now the process start over of trying to get Monday and Wednesday rescheduled. I wanted to do it last night but I didn't have the energy. Today is a new day and I'm not going to dwell on it. There are other things for me to be annoyed at today.
Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Scheduling Mayhem! Shooting begins tomorrow, I think..... So far I've had an actor cancel and then find out that they can shoot after all in a span of 45 minutes. Ugh, heart attack!!! Well at least thing are back on schedule.....for now. LOL Tomorrow we will shoot Ep 1 Scenes 10, 13, 15, 16, 19 and Ep 2 Scenes 4, 6, 7, 8. Yeah I'm being hopeful. I know I won't get that far, but I can try. :D We'll probably get through most of Ep 1. Ugh time for shot log.
Monday, September 01, 2008 Labor Day Weekend Labor day weekend was alright. Yesterday my hard drive crashed so I've been spending the last couple of days trying to get my laptop up and running and trying to recover my data. Luckily I've managed to save all the scripts which I'm honestly the most concerned about. There is other data I'm concerned about but that is the most important to me. I can recover my MP3 and movies off my ipod. I may have lost my Invaders Zim Episodes which would make me sad. But what can I do....
Monday, August 25, 2008 1-800-Tech-Support Read Thru/Audition On Sunday we had the first read through with the full cast present. Everything went very well. As usual I was running behind. I had to do some computer work before heading over which is what set me behind. I have a friend who is a dentist and I occasionally help him out. Yesterday I was helping him setup and configure his new router for his business. unfortunately I couldn't remember what I did a few years ago and I kind of screwed things up. So I had come go back in early today before heading over to the Matthew's for the read thru. I ended up getting there at 11:30, 30 minutes late. Whitney was still running behind so we couldn't really get started anyway. By noon we were underway. It got off to a rocky start but everything went well. I was really impressed by Loki. He was there auditioning for the role of Curtis on of the dayshifters. Originally Scott Kirfman was cast for the role but he had to drop out due to scheduling. I wasn't sure how he was going to do because the part was for a California douche bag and Loki is British.... I think. It didn't matter, he nailed it British accent and all. I also cast Erick Ramero as Ray. Erick and Loki played off each other every well. Amanda Nutting, Melissa Dawn Smith and Laura Evans showed up to audition for the part of Priss. All three did very well but Melissa won the day. I still casted Amanda and Laura but for different parts. After everything was all said and done we sat down and started working on the schedule. Filming will finally begin September 1st. Episode 1 should be released in January.
