Another shoot day gone to shit!

Tonight I was suppose to start filming a pickup scene for JGB. Well that didn’t happen. We were going to shoot at a Chinese restaurant after hours. However, we had to cancel. I was informed that they clear out after they close and we will need to reschedule. As always not an easy task. Do to scheduling conflicts the scene is going to need to be dropped/changed. This is exactly the kind of shit I’m concerned about. If delays keep popping up we are going to miss the deadline for ShortEnds. And for the most part will shit can the project.

The next shoot date is Thursday and Sunday. Hopefully nothing will go wrong.

Returning to filming JGB, finally!

After being on hold for over a month, filming of Just Getting By resumes. Tomorrow night I will be getting some pickup shots of Wes and Moses at a Chinese restaurant for a flash back scene. Damn I’ve been joansing to film something and with the crappy time I’ve been having at work it will be a nice distraction.

What has DDP been up to?

I’m not sure how many people read this blog if anyone reads it at all for that matter. Before my web server crashed I had several posts about series I had been working on called Just Getting By. So what happened to JGB? The series was put on hiatus for about a month do to some personal issues involving some members of the cast and the EP. Ultimately we lost the location we where using for Dean and Luck’s house. So we need to reshoot 3/4 of episode 1. I’m hoping that filming will resume next weekend.

I heard back from my co-worker Adam. I emailed him a copy of my latest script. Here is what he IM’d me about Dodging Bullets. “Well I just finished the script… I liked it… You always seem to have this, for lack of a better term, quality to your stories that I find dark but funny.” Mission accomplished. :D However, I need to remind Adam the last to short films I did were written by Andy Miller, but I’ll take the complement.

First Revision Done

Well after working most of this evening I’ve completed the first incarnation of Dodging Bullets. It weighs in at a little over 20 pages. I sent it off to my co-worker Adam to see what he thinks. The story is about Steve and his misadventures of trying to find two runaway juveniles a place to live. Steve is your average IT professional who has a not so average week. All Steve really wants in life is some peace and quiet. But it’s kind of hard because his roommate Laura is a party girl with a total disregard for Steve’s tranquility. While trying to find the teenagers a place to live Steve encounters, ex-girlfriends, annoying co-workers, Nazis and a kidnapping.

Dodging Bullets

Lately I’ve been trying to come up with some ideas for a short that I want to submit to SAL Film Festival. My original ideas was to do a modern fairytale of Little Red Riding Hood. I came up with a good idea, but I’m having issues flushing out the story. The last thing I want is it to turn into a cheesy and lame horror adaptation. Earlier this week I was telling a few of my co-workers this funny story about this encounter I was with Nazi skinheads when I as in college. Adam was like, you should do a short about that. Though most of the events are based around what happened, it’s going to be totally fictionalized version of these events. It’s been years and I really don’t recall everything that went down. But what I do remember about what happened was pretty damn funny. Though it wasn’t funny at the time. So far in the pasted few days I’ve manage to hammer out 14 pages of the script and I should have version 1.0 finished by tonight.
