Well I’m sad to report that Real Friends didn’t make it. However, that’s how it goes. Dar said that she was sad that she had to make that decision, but there where other more picturesque and compelling shorts. I still think the living room scenes did me in. They are my bane!
Just as a side note, if you have ever seen Voice in the Dark you would know what I’m talking about.

I found this interesting web series on MySpace called Afterworld. So far I’ve only seen one episode but it looks really neat and is worth checking out. The style of animation blends computer game graphics with a kind of graphic novel approach to storytelling. The story is about Russell Shomaker a businessman who goes to New York to land a big account. When he wakes up the next morning, technology has failed and the citizens of New York have gone missing.

BTW, there are links in my blog posts. Sadly they show up as white text. Some time this week I’ll get that fixed, but in the mean time you are going to need to track them down. Think of it as an Easter Egg Hunt. Come on, it’ll be fun.

My wife Leah found the article that Mike Greenberg’s wrote about our team. Very well done.

Tomorrow’s issue of the Express News will have Mike Greenberg’s article about team Dark Design and our experience during the 48Hr Film Project. Not sure what it is going to say, but I can assure you that it will be interesting. So if you are in the San Antonio area go pick up a copy. I believe the article will be online as well so I’ll post a link.

I’m happy to report that the web site stats for this week are way up. Normally I get about 6 to 9 visits a day. I think half of those are from me updating shit and the other half are from people find the site by complete accident. I’m curious to how much effect Mike Greenberg’s article may have. There’s not a whole lot going on right now as far as film making goes.
Right now I’m working on the Real Friends DVD using DVD Architect 4. Normally I use iDVD on my Mac to author DVDs. There is a lot of nice tools in DVD Architect, like chapter makers and the scene select menu. Still trying to get everything figured out, but I should have a finished DVD by the end of the week. Christian Martinez has been harassing me about lots of out takes. That is going to be the longest part. Going thought all the footage looking for screw ups that aren’t boring. I think some of the cast wanted to do a directors commentary. That would be kind of kewl.
The other mini project I’ve started working on is adding all my short films to IMDB. I also created an IMDB resume for myself. I figured it couldn’t hurt. It should take about a month before they start showing up online. So we shall see. Recently I’ve found the more places I post links to the site the more traffic has increased. The blogging about 48Hr Film Project hasn’t hurt as well.

Last night I posted The Night Shift to the filmography. This is a slightly modified version of what was turned in. The end credits were all jacked up. So I fixed it and added some music during the crawl. A directors cut will be coming out soon. Once I get everything taken care of with the Real Friends DVD I can get back to editing. So look for something in the next few weeks.

Well gang it’s all over. The screening was very nice. People laughed at The Night Shift for the most part it was very well received. Being that this is the first of my movies I did not edit, I felt it was lacking. A lot of people would like to see a re-edit of the film. So do I. I feel bad about it. Herman put a lot of time and effort into it.
There are two things I really suck at. Grammar and spelling, that a no brainer. If you read my blog you could of figured that one out. Public speaking is the other. Erik had the leaders of each team come up and field questions. I don’t no what my deal is but I just clam up. Speaking in front of crowds freaks me out, even if I do know half the people in the audience. So I blabbered on for a bit and booked it out of there without answering a single question. How weak is that? I even forgot to thank my cast and crew. Fuck!
