JGB Ep1 will be posted online soon

Over the weekend I finally finished the new export of JGB Ep1. I’ve added in some MagicBullet color correction and it takes about a day to do the render. When I left work this morning I left it making the encoding to Flash so if all goes well I should have it online tonight. Now I can start working on the DVD.

Holy shit, people laughed!

Tonight, well I guess technically yesterday Just Getting By was screaned at Ruta Maya. The turnout was surprising higher than I anticipated. Ruta Maya was freaking packed! I’m ecstatic to report that JGB was very well received by the audience.

I’ve been working on the project for a long freaking time, somewhere around 6 months. With all the time I’ve spent on editing I’ve beating the funny out of the episode. So I didn’t think it was as funny as it turned out to be. People laughed and enjoyed themselves so and that is what it’s all about. All the pain and suffering of long shoot days, having problems with actors, having to reshoot over 70% of the footage paid off. After filming Dodging Bullets I’m willing to do another episode.

Unfortunately, this was the last Short Ends screening. Andy Miller showed his first horror film which was very well done. Very fucked up in a kewl way. I got a copy of the DVD because I helped out with the audio. Sadly Andy’s not going to do another horror movie. Matthew Jasso did Who is Cesar Tampico. Which was also a very funny short film. It was also very different to Jasso usual stuff.

JGB: Episode 1 finally filming complete!

Last night we finished filming of Episode 1. Despite some of the annoyance, I think things are coming together. However, ‘m glad this is finished so I can pursue other projects. Hopefully there will be more episodes to come.

JGB Episode 1 almost done!

There is one more shoot day to go and I’m done with principle photography. Sunday was another good shoot day and things are beginning to fall into place. For the past few days I’ve been editing like a machine. Thing are beginning to come together. I showed a rough cut to Adam my co-worker and he liked it. It was better than the original. I have to agree. My copy of Sony Vegas 7 came in today. I’m excited. I comes with the DVD authoring tools as well as a limited copy of Magic Bullet. I was hoping it was going to be the full version but no such luck. With a price tag of $300 buck it’s going to have to wait.

Pain, suffering annoyance, but everything turned out just fine.

Sunday the 6th we start reshooting JGB. From the most part it was a very ruff shoot. Matt’s new place didn’t A/C, Moses showed up drunk. For the most part everyone was a bit on the rowdy side. I left that night rather pissed off and discouraged. As always Cindy and Jenn out do themselves. These two are such a class act when it comes to acting. With that said the footage turned out rather nice! So far I’ve been able to edit around the bullshit and things are being to come together. I have regained my optimism for this project.

The second reshoot started off ruff but quickly picked up steam. Wes was a few hours late due to a communication error. So while waiting I got a chance to sit down and talk to Cindy. Michael did make the shoot but it was probably for the best so I can’t be to pissed about it. Again had to do with the communication error. My mail server got blacklisted and I guess half the cast didn’t get the email. All that should be resolved now with the server. The shoot went great. Moses made up for his jackassary for the previous weekend.

I started editing the new footage this week. After two weeks of dreading how bad could of turned out, I was very happy to see that despite the fiasco the footage great. This Sunday should wrap up the major shooting. A few pickup shots after that and we are done. After the pilot is complete I’m going to turn my attention to Dodging Bullets.

Another shoot day gone to shit!

Tonight I was suppose to start filming a pickup scene for JGB. Well that didn’t happen. We were going to shoot at a Chinese restaurant after hours. However, we had to cancel. I was informed that they clear out after they close and we will need to reschedule. As always not an easy task. Do to scheduling conflicts the scene is going to need to be dropped/changed. This is exactly the kind of shit I’m concerned about. If delays keep popping up we are going to miss the deadline for ShortEnds. And for the most part will shit can the project.

The next shoot date is Thursday and Sunday. Hopefully nothing will go wrong.

Returning to filming JGB, finally!

After being on hold for over a month, filming of Just Getting By resumes. Tomorrow night I will be getting some pickup shots of Wes and Moses at a Chinese restaurant for a flash back scene. Damn I’ve been joansing to film something and with the crappy time I’ve been having at work it will be a nice distraction.
