Afterworld

I found this interesting web series on MySpace called Afterworld. So far I’ve only seen one episode but it looks really neat and is worth checking out. The style of animation blends computer game graphics with a kind of graphic novel approach to storytelling. The story is about Russell Shomaker a businessman who goes to New York to land a big account. When he wakes up the next morning, technology has failed and the citizens of New York have gone missing.

Transformers

Over the 4th of July holiday I had a chance to get check out the new Transformers movie. Over the past several months I had major reservations about the movie. For starters I’m a bit of a cannon purist when it comes to my favorite shows, movies, comic etc. Being that the movie has noting to do with the Generation 1 series I was really impressed. Peter Cullen makes a return as the voice actor of Optimus Prime and Hugo Weaving as Megatron. This is very much so a Michael Bay movie, which is reflected in his filming style and use of product placement. The movie is long and it takes some time to build up the major plot points, but if the time was trimmed it wouldn’t be as good. They do a good job and I wasn’t bored. The fight scenes are incredible. I give it a 4 out of 5.
